When we moved to Oro Valley we stumbled into this place on a whim. The deluxe veggies and rice was tasty. I always get a veggie egg roll, soup, and the fried rice!! Everything we've tried from here is delicious and the staff is always nice! The lunch portions are big. Everything is price good too!

Excellent food, very reasonably priced, and good service. What more could you ask for in a restaurant? I'm a regular.

We used to eat here quite often and years ago it was really good. Now the food quality has went way down. The last time we ate here, we both got sick and have not been back since. Eat here at your own risk!

We having been going to Dragon Village for YEARS! The owner, Mary, and her kids are always around and the staff is quick and knows their stuff. If you go for lunch they have really wonderful specials and the is a bunch of food! They have a wonderful dish called teryaki eggplant that is off the hook.....just a wonderful local business that has great food

I used to live near here and was in the area. The Won Ton soup is the best I have had in a long time. It's a must for under $2.00 for a cup. The menu is reasonably priced and is great as well. You can't go wrong.

decided after a bad experience about 10 years ago to try again since they are so close by. foo young was like a rubbery hockey puck slimmed with cabbage and hunks of carrots. Moo shu pork was a ton of cabbage and hunks of carrots with not much in the way of pork that was distinguishable. pot stickers were covered with a thick dough that was so tough you had to cut them with a knife. after a couple of bites, I threw everything out. should have gone to Safeway and got frozen food, it would have been cheaper and more edible

Really good food, reasonably priced and large portions. I had the sesame chicken which I thought was delicious.

Good food and nice service. This is my wife and my favorite place for Chinese. It's nice to finally find a good place for Chinese so far away from Los Angeles and San Francisco.

This has always been my absolute favorite place to eat. It's always comfortable and has the best Chinese food in the entire Tucson area. Prices are very good and service is always top notch. I've met lots of people over the years in the restaurant that make regular long trips from South Tucson, Globe, and even Sierra Vista just to eat at Dragon Village.

Dragon Village is in located in the Safeway Shopping Center, at the corner of Tangerine Rd and First St.. It is a typical family restaurant. The kids might wait on the tables if it gets busy or they might be at a corner table doing homework. Their food is very good and reasonably priced. Originally coming from New York, I was glad to find a Chinese restaurant that served basic, un-embellished food. If I'm not too hungry I'll have a large War Wonton Soup which has a mix of wontons, meats and vegetables. That's enough. Typically we get the Family Dinners which run $8.95-10.95 per person. They consist of soup (We like the Hot and Sour), Egg Roll, second appetizer item, main course with BBQ fried rice. I also recommend the Shrimp and Lobster sauce, which has a subtle taste.

Looking at the prices on the menu on-line, we were expecting Formica and Linoleum. Instead, we got leather and wood. I had Curry Beef. Nothing to write home about. But my wife had the Salty Crispy Tofu. It was the most unique, awesome tasting non-meat stuff I ever had in a Chinese restaurant. (Oh yeah -- she liked it a whole lot too.) Now, I'm sure the locals will hate me for this. But you Dragon people are giving out wayyyyy too much food. We stuffed ourselves for dinner, then still walked out with enough leftovers for a couple more meals. I'm not saying you should scrimp. But a decent sized dinner at these prices is more than enough. Just sayin'.

"DISAPPOINTING" can't even describe how upset we were. Last evening, we decided to try Dragon Village (45-minute round trip) for the first time. After waiting for our take-out food, we were told the order was given to someone else. So, we waited for another order, about 15-20 minutes. When we arrived home, we realized they had given us the wrong food. We only received two items out of five we ordered and have no idea what the other dish was, smelled terrible and it was thrown out. We did receive the pork ribs which were reheated several times, dried out, and inedible. We didn't even receive the steamed rice we ordered - no fortune cookies! This restaurant was probably ' the very worst of the worst' that we have tried. We are newcomers to the area, and we so wanted to find a good Chinese restaurant since we love the food - the Dragon Village was certainly not the one! Can someone recommend a good restaurant?

Good food, good service, large quantities spiced to your specs. We've been here 3 times, once each for 3 years and have never been disappointed. Moo Shu pork was excellent, as were the pan fried noodles (house special.) Modest prices.

Last night my wife ordered take out for four from Dragon Village. This place has been our go to Chinese Restaurant for several years and has usually been good. That is good until last night. I won't bore you with the details of our order, but we ordered three family dinners and one ala carte dinner from the menu. Arriving home, we unpacked the dinners and found we had been shorted the following items. ! egg roll, one shrimp puff, one bowl of soup, two serviings of fried rice, and one order of House Lo Mein (entre). To me, that is a substantial amount of food to be missing from our order. At least a $10 error. My wife called the Dragon Village Restaurant to notify them of the mistake. The manager she spoke with, in essence, said Sorry. "I'll speak with the staff about this" and hung up. Not the response one would expect. No offer to "fix this", I'make it up to you on your next order" Bring in your receipt and we'll refund $10" NOTHING! There is a new Chinese restaurant that has recently opened nearer to my home. The dragon has been slayed.. Good By DV

Pretty good for a Chinese restaurant. Had several good looking seafood dishes. I got the sesame shrimp. It was very tasty and you get a lot of food for not so much money. The hot and sour soup was pretty good, too. The people I was eating ordered the Happy Family and sizzling seafood dishes, which were also quite large. I was able to taste both, and they both were very good. The service is good. The owner is very friendly.

I don't eat Chinese food often, but I was surprised to like this place. There's a lot of seating room, the chairs are really comfy, it was clean, and everyone is very friendly. We all got something off the lunch special, and everything turned out very good. I specifically got cashew chicken, and it comes with fried rice, and egg roll, and a choice of either hot & sour soup or egg flower soup. I picked the egg one and I really loved it. It was very creamy and tasty. I probably could have just eaten a whole bowl of that for lunch. Everything was really good, my family likes their dishes as well, and for 3 people it was just under $20. If I'm ever in Tucson again and want Chinese, I'll be sure to come back! Especially for their egg soup. Mmm.

This is a nice little restaurant with decent food, good service, and efficient staff. I've never had to wait long for my food, and whenever I choose to carryout, the food is always prepared exactly to my instructions and in a timely manner. The owner is wonderful, and her family is always polite and responsive. The only reason why I deducted a star is because of the food -- I expect and want a little more authenticity. Of course, Dragon Village is no Panda express, but I do get this feel of Americanized Chinese food when I visit. The eggrolls and soup remind me of what you'd pick up at any Asian buffet. The main dishes are decent, though some of them have this sweetness slightly reminescent of packaged orange chicken from Costo's freezer section. That's not to say that the food is not good -- it's solid and tasty for what it is, and sometimes I crave this type of food. It just doesn't taste authentic, which may be the reason why it appeals to so many people. Dragon village is a good business -- to be so popular, the owners are obviously doing something right. You can't beat the prices. Everything is affordable, fairly priced, and the portions are generous. You get more food for a better price here than what you'd get from Panda Express, and you won't feel like a terrible person after eating it. Solid four stars from me. Come here for copious amounts of slightly Americanized Chinese food at a great price and great service.

I used to go to this place and had some awesome duck. A few days ago I went there again and was shocked how low the quality of food was. I ordered my favor duck and it was pretty tasteless. I don't know what happened....

I really enjoy Dragon Village. I have eaten here several times and also had take out. The place is always busy but I have never had to wait for a table. The manage/owner always seems to make her way thru the restaurant to check on all of the guests which is very nice. The food is good and I have never had any problems with the service. I will continue to be a regular customer.

We went on Sunday at 1:30pm. There were 6 of us. The food is terrible. Maybe I am spoiled coming from San Francisco but the server was very rude and angry till she dropped of the bill and the food is nothing to write home about. I would never come back here.

Very good place! The food was excellent and even the lunch portions were big enough to share. The staff was very attentive and even the manager made several rounds to all the tables to fill drinks and help out. Very reasonably priced and kid friendly. We will definitely be coming back!

I would probably come back here again because I want to give it the benefit of the doubt. I came here with a group of friends on a Monday night and the place had a decent amount of people in it. The service was very prompt, maybe a little too prompt for we asked several times if we could have a few more minutes to browse the menu (since it was our first time) only to find within another minute our eager waitress was asking if she could again take our order. I have nothing against her for she was good-natured and kind so I was able to look past that. On to the meal, everyone ordered something different so that each person could try something else: Chicken Chow Mein BBQ Pork Chow Mein Beef Chow Fun Cashew Chicken Beef Foo Yung Wonton Soup There was a tasty appetizer of fried wonton chips with a side of sweet and sour sauce right after we ordered. Now the food arrived after a mere five minutes that we placed our order. O.O I was quite in shock. But I was hungry so I just thought the faster the merrier for me. Well the food was quite peculiar because I had always thought that chow mein meant crispy noodles, but in their eyes it meant something quite different. They brought out a heaping plate of beans sprouts sauteed with either the chicken or bbq pork and the chow mein was actually the fried wonton chips. So they literally brought out a side of wonton chips to eat with each of the chow mein dishes because that is what they used as noodles...? At this my chinese friend shook his head in disapproval. The wonton soup was okay, it was just one big wonton floating in the middle of a sea of broth but the taste was good, not bland. As for my dish I think there was much room for improvement. First off there were no cashews in sight in my dish, and generally if I order cashew chicken I prefer at least a hint of cashew in the dish regardless of whether or not it is physically present in the dish for I ordered the cashew chicken for a reason. I was disappointed because it was not what I expected. Beef foo yung was also only mediocre for it harbored the same exact flavors as my chicken dish... The star of the night was the Beef Chow Fun, the noodles and the beef in it were flavorful and very delicious, next time that is the only thing I will order!

We ate here the other day and the food was mediocre and just weird. I did not care for some of the ingredients, like mushrooms in the Kung Pao. If the menu listed them I would have left them out. Certainly not the best Chinese food, actually far form it. I love trying different restaurants, But places like this make me want to stick with chain restaurants, at least then I know what to expect.

I travel a lot but have just settled in Tucson so we are out trying Restaurants. Tonight it was Dragon Village before the movie because several folks told us how good it is. My first impression is that they need to cook with a hotter wok, everything is way too oily. Tonight we could not eat the spring rolls and shrimp because they were still dripping with oil. The main dishes, Kung Pao shrimp and sesame chicken, were just bland and lacking any flavor. The best dish was a very mediocre pork fried rice that needed a lot of soy sauce because it was dry and over cooked. The high light of my night was my hot and sour soup, I enjoyed the soup and found it flavorful. My wife's egg soup was just bland. I can't understand the ratings on the this restaurant ... I thought it was a below average mall restaurant but the crowds didn't appear to agree with me. Next day update: ( took 1 star away) my wife and I are both sick. She has diarrhea and I have very bad gas pains. I didn't take the other reviews that complained about not feeling well after eating here seriously, that apparently was my mistake. We had to cancel our dinner reservations at a good restaurant for tonight.

Near my dad's house. Excellent seaweed soup, loved it. Good sizzling seafood thought the seafood mix was definitely frozen rather than fresh. The chicken in the chicken with snow peas was so salty I could barely eat it, but the rest was good.

This is one of the best Chinese restraunts in America for sure. The food is always very high quality and customer service is great. I live close by so I like to come here every now and then and I am never disapointed. I have been coming here for a few years and I have yet to find anything better. One time I was in Chinatown in San Fransisco and I thought I could get good/authentic chinese food there...but the restraunt I ate at didnt even come close to this. Yes, as strange as it sounds, a Chinese restraunt in AZ beats Chinatown. Good job Dragon VIllage keep up the good work! (p.s. I highly recomend the sesami chicken..its amazing)

I've tried almost every other Chinese restaurant in Tucson, and this one is still my favorite. That's why I've been coming here for 9 or 10 years, I guess. That's why I drive past 3 other Chinese restaurants to come to this one. That's why my wife and I once ate here 4 times in the same month. Sometimes you've just got to stick with what works. The tables are always spotless, service is always attentive and accommodating, and the food is, of course, excellent. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are quite large for what you pay. Mary, the owner, usually goes table-to-table to check up on you and make sure everything is perfect. Some of my favorite dishes are: house egg foo young, General Tso's chicken, sesame chicken, house lo mein, cashew chicken, Kung Pao shrimp, and coconut shrimp. Really, everything is good. You can't go wrong by trying something new, and if you absolutely hate it, I'm sure Mary would make you something else. Oh, by the way, if you live or work nearby, the lunch specials are fantastic. You get soup, an egg roll, rice, and a main course for like $5 or $6. It's unbelievable.

My Wife and I went to Dragon Village for lunch while we stayed in Wyndham resort at Oro Valley, and were not impressed by it. If you come from a multicultural metropolitan such as Los Angels, do not bother trying this restaurant. You are bound to be disappointed. If you are not too picky about Chinese food, go to Panda Express instead. The latter is about the same qualify and cheaper. The service was acceptable, but what annoyed me was that they did not take the 10% coupon from Wyndham resort. The waitress said it was for dinner only, but the coupon only said "10% off total bill of $20 or above." There was not even a fine print that indicated that the lunch was ineligible. Like with lot of things, it is not about the money, it is about the false advertizing and consumer deception. If you are not ready to give such a discount, do not use it to allure the customers in. For that reason, I also give the service one star only.

My husband and I eat here often; it's near our house. The owner (from China), Mary, is very attentive to her guests & the service is personal and fast. There's plenty of parking. The vegetables used are always fresh and the portions excellent. We especially like their family dinners (you know, the soup, eggroll, crab puff, main meal and fried rice) and the soups. We make the soups a meal, sometimes. I sometimes get a white sauce on a dish that has a brown sauce--they will work with your preferences. Nice vibes, good people, good menu choices. We eat out a lot and like this restaurant!

It is always important to live near a good Chinese restaurant. Sometimes you come home from work and you don't feel like cooking and you want food fast. Dragon Village is my Chinese restaurant for that. The food is good and they have large portions. My only complaint is that when I order Sweet and Sour chicken for the kids, they never put enough pineapples in the box. Then I have to ration the pineapples because if I give one kid more pineapples than the other, the other kid complains and it is just not good.

Put it this way: this has become the place to compare Chinese food to for me. They've got great, American-Chinese Chinese food (the owner is from China) on the menu, and real Chinese food if you ask for it.

Dragon Village is by far one of the friendliest, best chinese restaurants in Tucson. I have been a repeat customer there several times, and everything is pretty consistent. Great portions, the food is tasty, and it's a great value for eat in or dine out.

been here a few times as oro valley really doesn't have much to offer in restaurants. i like this place. always pleasant when i go there and the service is always nice. always thanked for coming in and the lunch specials are the best in town. never ate anything i didn't like. will go back often...

Worst Chinese food I ever had. Ordered Seafood Chow Mein. Waitress asked me if I wanted soft noodles or fried noodles. I said fried noodles. When the dish came, there was not one noodle in sight....just a plate of cooked bean sprouts. I asked where the noodles were, and she pointed to a bowl of deep fried wonton wrappers which were previously put on the table with sweet & sour sauce as appetizers. She said those were my noodles. WHAT? I am Chinese, and when I order chow mein, I expect a plate of noodles. When I finally got through to them that I wanted "noodles," they made a dish for me with deep fried noodles. It was dark brown from all the soy sauce they used, and very, very salty. Very disappointed. Will never return.

Absolutely love this place, I eat here all the time. The service is pretty good and very quick. It's a locally owned business and the owner is almost always in there and makes everyone feel comfortable. The food is slightly authentic and very good. My favorite would have to be their Mushu Chicken and their General Tso's. Definitely worth checking out!

I've eaten here a couple of times. It is quite a journey for me to go to this restaurant but it is well worth the trip. The food is excellent and the customer service is outstanding. My second trip there the staff remembered me and was very courteous. All of the food that I have had there is very tasty and the portion sizes compared to the price make this a great value. I highly reccomend Dragon Village as a great Chinese Food option not only for Tucson and Oro Valley, but hands down a great place for good food period! There are not many good independent restaurants in Tucson. This one is outstanding!

Pretty good tofu dishes, and they offer brown rice as an alternative to white. Large portions and good lunch specials.

As there are not too many independent restaurants in XNW Tucson, we have eaten here many times. Usually when we just don't want to go farther than 5 miles. This area, Oro Valley is really lacking, within a 5 mile radius we only have approximately 7 independents. So this review maybe skewed a little. First its in a Safeway strip center. Second it doesn't evoke any desire to dine in, we do "take-away" primarily. You will be pleased with the owner, Mary's genuine friendly welcome. Now the food, typical Americanized Chinese. They were awarded Top 100 Chinese Eateries in the nation and I have yet to find out why. Maybe it's the huge servings. We usually have enough for another meal. Usually the meals are hit and miss with only a few stand outs that aren't duplicated the next time ordered. The one thing I like is their shrimp, it actually tastes like shrimp. The war wonton soup is consistently good and for $6.95 is a good value. They usually offer some unique Chinese New Year specials, I got some bean thread concoction and loved it, but on the second time around it wasn't the same. There lunch specials are the real bargain, a huge meal with soup, rice, entree, and egg roll, $5.50!

This place gets a solid 4 stars from us. We've been going here and getting takeout from here for years as the prices are very decent, you get good portion sizes and the food quality is good-to-great. They have a very extensive menu with many vegetarian options, so there's something for everyone. Takeout service is efficient and their full menu is on their website.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
